An existing heritage listed dwelling in a quiet, leafy backstreet required additional space for a growing family. To maintain sympathy with the existing highly uniform streetscape, the upper level addition falls within strict envelope constraints, necessitating creative use of low volumes.

The alteration remodels the interior at the rear, providing a sunken open plan living area on ground level with a feature stair and integrated joinery. Upstairs are two new bedrooms and a low volume retreat housed within a lightweight, timber clad extrusion which perches atop the remodelled heritage brick structure below/
